Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is Here!

Each Spring all eligible employees are able to make changes in their benefit plan selections. This Spring Open Enrollment will be held from April 1, 2012 thru April 30, 2012.  Changes made during Open Enrollment will become effective on July 1, 2012  and remain in effect until June 30, 2013. 

 
During Open Enrollment-
  • During open enrollment, all eligible employees and their dependents that previously declined any of the medical, dental, and prescription benefits can enroll at this time.
  • All current participants already enrolled can make changes to their current plan selections and change to any plan being offered.
  • Anyone wishing to add a dependent, or terminate coverage for themselves or a dependent would need to do so at this time by completing an enrollment/change form.  
Anyone wishing to make a change must complete a SNJREBF Enrollment Form and turn it into the Board office by Monday, April 30th, 2012.
 
Open Enrollment Notices:
 
Coverage for Young Adults to Age 26-  

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act: 

• A “child” is defined as an enrollee’s child until age 26, regardless of the child’s marital, student, or financial dependency status — even if the young adult no longer lives with his or her parents.

• Coverage will be extended to eligible children through the end of the calendar year in which they turn age 26 for your medical and prescription coverage. 
 
Dental:  Dependent children are covered until the end of the calendar year in which age 23 is attained.
 
Designation of Primary Care Providers by Participants or Beneficiaries:

The Cinnaminson Board of Education Aetna Patriot V , Patriot X, and Premier plans require the designation of a primary care provider for participating provider services. You have the right to designate any primary care provider who participates in our network and who is available to accept you or your family members. Until you make this designation, the network carrier may designate one for you. For information on how to select a primary care provider, and for a list of the participating primary care providers, contact Aetna Member Services or log onto www.aetna.com.  For further assistance, please contact our insurance broker, The Lance Group, at (856) 797-3500.

 

For children, you may designate a pediatrician as the primary care provider.  

 

Coverage for Obstetric or Gynecological Care:

You do not need prior authorization from our health insurance carrier or from any other person (including a primary care provider) in order to obtain access to obstetrical or gynecological care from a health care professional in our network who specializes in obstetrics or gynecology.  The health care professional, however, may be required to comply with certain procedures, including obtaining prior authorization for certain services, following a pre-approved treatment plan, or procedures for making referrals.  For a list of participating health care professionals who specialize in obstetrics or gynecology, contact Aetna Member Services or log onto http://www.aetna.com/.  For further assistance, please contact our insurance broker, The Lance Group, at (856) 797-3500.
 

Retiree Notice Regarding Medicare

If a retiree is Medicare-eligible and enrolled in a SNJREBF medical/prescription drug benefit plan, please be advised that the SNJREBF medical/prescription drug plan will function as a secondary payer of benefits. Therefore, for a retiree who meets these criteria, it is necessary to enroll in both Medicare Parts A and B. If you do not enroll in Medicare Part B, all eligible claim payments will be reduced by the amount that would have been paid by Medicare. Information concerning Medicare eligibility, rules and other pertinent details may be obtained by visiting www.medicare.gov , or by calling (800) 633-4227.
